Hammock Beach Golf Resort and Spa: A Slice of Paradise on Florida’s Palm Coast

25 minutes south of St Augustine, along the Palm Coast of Florida you will find the beautiful Hammock Beach Golf Resort and Spa.  No passport required, this resort is a great domestic destination for families, romantic getaways, golf and tennis vacations, weddings, bachelor and bachelorette gatherings, friend’s weekends, etc.  Whatever type of trip you are looking to take you can take it here.  There are a variety of accommodations available to suit every need.

There are ocean view hotel rooms, 2 and 3 bedroom villas and 2, 3 and 4 bedroom condos. The 2 bedroom villa that we were in was located overlooking the golf course there was a master bedroom, with a king bed, a full bathroom with both  a tub and shower, a second bedroom with 2 full size beds and a bathroom with a shower and tub combo, a living room and a nice size kitchen which was stocked with plates, flatware, pots, pans, utensils, glassware etc., a dining room table and a balcony with some outdoor chairs.  It was recently remodeled and was great for our needs. The villa was a 5 min walk to the main tower and about a 10 minute walk to the beach.  I was able to see a few other rooms while I was there, my favorite was a 3 bedroom condo overlooking the ocean with Viking appliances in the kitchen.  This particular accommodation would be perfect for a large family, friends groups, etc.

There is so much to do at this resort.  As the name says it is a golf and spa resort.  There are 2 golf courses.  One is a Jack Nicklaus course that overlooks the Atlantic Ocean on 6 holes, the most holes overlooking the ocean in FL.  The second, a Tom Watson designed course, is located a few miles away.  Not up for the big courses?  There is a 9 hole  putt putt course that is fun to play with the kids or friends especially when the resort has glow in the dark play time.

There is a spa offering the usual menu of treatments as well as a fitness center with state of the art equipment such as peloton bikes, yoga classes, etc.

Tennis anyone?  The Tennis Center boasts 8 hydro grid clay courts, and offers group programs for adults and kids ages 5 and up as well as private lessons.

There are a variety of pools on this expansive property, an indoor pool which is great for inclement or cool weather, a family pool with a twisty slide, an adult pool, a zero entry sand pool, and my very favorite, a lazy river!   There is also the ultimate pool – the Atlantic Ocean! There was food and beverage service at the outdoor pool complex, as well as complimentary towels and plenty of lounge chairs and umbrellas, but don’t forget your sunscreen that Florida sun gets hot!

There were a number of Dining options. My favorites were the Atlantic Grille with their fresh seafood and ocean views, Delfinos Italian, and the Sushi Bar, yum! The Atlantic Grill also served a fantastic full breakfast menu, and the sports bar and lobby bar were fun at night.

We did have the opportunity to eat at some local restaurants and hands down our favorite was Captains BBQ, serving delicious homemade BBQ on the intercoastal waterway and only 10 min from the resort. There is a Publix supermarket about ½ mile from the resort where we picked up snacks, water and some food items.  We actually rode bicycles there as they are complimentary for 1 hr. as part of the resort amenities.

The resort is only about 30 minutes South of the Nation’s oldest city St Augustine and all that it has to offer and about 30 min North of Daytona.  Locally you can fish, rent boats, kayak and paddleboard, you can also hike in a variety of nature preserves.  There is something for everyone at Hammock Beach Golf Resort and Spa.
