Wild Africa Trek is one of my favorite Disney experiences ever! Animal Kingdom is my favorite park, and every time I went on a safari and saw the bridge over the crocodiles or the people wearing harnesses, I would say “I need to do that!”

We checked in next to the Kilimanjaro Safaris entrance, where there was a locker for us to store loose items but they encouraged me to bring my phone for photos, my sunglasses, and, shockingly, my giraffe-print mickey ears! They set us each up with a vest, harness, headset to hear the guides, sunglass holders, and a refillable water bottle that we got to keep. We met our two incredible guides and wonderful group of six ranging in age from young 20s to 75!

One of the coolest parts of this tour was that the guides traded off having a camera in their hands at all time, constantly taking photos which we were then able to download, included with the trek! They took some amazing photos of the animals and also made sure they captured both posed and candid shots of all of us. They were also extremely knowledgeable, friendly, attentive, and hilarious.

The tour started by walking along a path that took us to get up close and personal with hippos! From there, we climbed up and went across the bridges over the hippos and crocodiles, which was exhilarating! After that, we hopped in a special truck and got to spend more time on the savanna watching the giraffes than a regular safari. There were binoculars available for us to see the animals that were further away better. We loved the extra time out with the animals, it always seems to go by so fast on the regular safari!

Once we filled our camera rolls with amazing animal memories, it was time for lunch. Lunch was served on a beautiful deck with a panoramic view over the flamingos, elephants, and savanna. It also has real bathrooms, which is nice to have on a three-hour tour! Lunch was served in Tiffins and features tasty small servings of a variety of different foods, plus Disney’s delicious POG juice.

This tour is a must-do for animal and Animal Kingdom lovers. I’d do it again in a heartbeat!
